Two break-even lines

  • Revenue-neutral: the baseline order's revenue divided by the tier price. For a 5% discount that is 1 / 0.95, about 5.3% more units.
  • Gross-profit-neutral: the baseline order's gross profit divided by the tier's unit profit. Because COGS does not fall with the price, this always needs more volume: about 9.6% more units for the same 5% discount at the default prices.
  • Profit change at expected uplift: what the tier earns on a baseline order grown by your expected uplift, minus what the baseline order earns at full price.
Tip

Set tier minimums above the gross-profit break-even quantity. A tier that only needs to be revenue-neutral quietly gives margin away.
